5 Things You MUST Be A Good Steward Of For True Success

In kicking off this new year, I wanted to talk about what I believe is one of the most important topics we can discuss when it comes to success in life… Being a good steward. So what does it mean to be a good steward and what are you supposed to be a good steward of?

Stay tuned for this VERY important message…

#1 – MONEY

Alright, most of us, when we hear the statement, “being a good steward,” we think of money. And I will tell you, I believe money demands a good steward… In other words, if you don’t manage it properly, getting more of it will not help you. I’ve seen it over and over again, people make lots of money and then just either blow it or they raise their standard of living and become broke at a different level. There are lots of people out there that are in the “look game.” They like to try and look good to everyone else and they spend all their money doing it. One of my passions is helping you not only build residual income, but also to keep it and keeping it starts with being a good steward. The word steward actually means manager.

So to experience true success, what else can we and should we be a good steward of, other than money?

#2 – TIME

The #2 thing we have to be a good steward of is our TIME! Just like money, if you don’t manage it properly, having more of it is not going to help you! You have to be very guarding and demanding of your time, in my opinion, it is your most valuable commodity. So evaluate, how are you spending your time? Are you doing things that keep you busy or are you doing things that actually produce RESULTS? It’s very important that you measure your activities by your results. Now, depending on what you’re doing, you do have to give things time to work… Specially if you’re an entrepreneur and building a business. So in measuring, you have to take into account whether you have been doing it long enough to succeed. But you also, at some point, have to be able to say, “This ain’t working” and maybe try a new approach or method.

If you’re using the excuse of not having enough time, you might have to either consider cutting some things out of your schedule or God forbid, do things like shutting off the TV or getting up earlier in the morning so that you can get more done by adding more hours to your day.

#3 – BODY

The #3 thing we have to be a good steward of is our BODY.  You only have one! My chiropractor, Dr. Brown, always says, “Don’t forget, your health is your wealth!” Having money without your health is worthless. You have to make your health a priority and be a good steward of your body. That means you have to be committed to exercising on a regular basis and you have to be committed to a healthy eating lifestyle. Notice I didn’t say diet! This is your LIFE! Don’t kill yourself early by the things that you put in your body that you shouldn’t be putting in your body. I promise, if you become a good steward of your body by exercising and eating right, you will be a much better leader, you’ll be able to accomplish more, and you’ll be able to experience true success. It doesn’t mean you have to be a body builder… It’s just being committed to live a healthy lifestyle and being a good steward of your body.

#4 – RELATIONSHIPS

The #4 thing we must be a good steward of is our relationships. Our relationships can be one of our greatest treasures. They can be one of our greatest sources of joy, encouragement, wisdom, and of course, love. Just like money, time, and health, relationships have to be managed properly and cherished. To put “success” as a higher priority than relationships leads to a lonely life in your later years.  Think of it this way, if you were on your death bed, would you want to be surrounded by your money or surrounded by your family and friends? I think most of us would answer family and friends to that question. Proper relationships can also be one of the biggest contributors to your success, so choose wisely. It’s been said that those who walk with the wise become wise, but the companion of fools suffers harm. It’s also been said, that you can take the average income of the five people you hang around most and you will fit into that average. So, our success in all these areas can certainly be affected by the quality of our relationships.

#5 – THOUGHTS

Lastly, the #5 thing we must be a good steward of is our thoughts! Our thoughts are the equivalent of the self-driving cars of the day… Whatever destination you input, that is where the car goes. You are the car and your thoughts take you to the destination you desire, the destination that you input! You’ve heard the statement, “As a man thinketh, so is he.” There’s actually a great book that I highly recommend by James Allen, titled As A Man Thinketh, you can click on this link and order that book and it is something you will want to read over and over again!

Jim Rohn, said “It is the set of the sails, not the direction of the wind that determines which way we will go. You must take personal responsibility. You can’t change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of.”
You change yourself with your thoughts, you have to be a good steward of your thoughts, a good manager. You manage your thoughts by what you are saying about yourself, what are you telling yourself? Remember, you are the one that inputs the destination. You are the one that sets the sail. And it all starts with the thoughts that you put in your mind… Are you telling yourself you are going to be successful in life? Are you telling yourself you are going to be a good steward of your money, your time, your body, your relationships, and your time? I want to encourage you to choose your destination, set the sail, and start telling yourself everyday where you are going and let’s make 2017 your best year ever!
